Our Mission

Time to Dance is dedicated to enriching the health and quality of life for adults through dance education, research, and performance.

Your health and wellness are our mission.

Time to Dance is a 501(c)3 non-profit dance service organization. We currently teach over 20 classes per month to dancers throughout the North Shore and surrounding communities; as well as reaching a national participant base via Zoom with our hybrid and virtual offerings. Our class offerings include ballet, modern, tap, fitness and more.

TTD instructors are trained in safe practices and andragogy of dance, and share a set of values that help guide how we approach our collective work. Additionally, our research-informed teaching strategies are designed to be uniquely effective for aging adults. We prioritize health as well as joy in the freedom of movement. Students who have danced before as well as those new to dance techniques will grow in their individual abilities while dancing at TTD.

Our Vision

Our vision is a community that conquers ageism by encouraging and supporting its senior citizens in their artistic endeavors. Its citizens and government will also understand the value of the arts in promoting healthy lives. It is a community that embraces dance alone, and in collaboration with other local arts organizations, to bridge generations and cultures.

Our Goals

  1. Teach You New Skills in Dance

TTD classes are designed to teach you fundamental vocabularies in dance that simultaneously foster a healthy lifestyle for an aging body.

  2. Improve your Physical Health

We provide physical challenges and targeted feedback that result in quantifiable improvements in physical ability such as improved balance, posture, cardiovascular health, muscle strength and joint range of motion.

  3. Promote Social and Emotional Wellbeing

TTD students build confidence in an enthusiastic and welcoming learning environment. Well-being is fostered through social interaction and shared joy.

  4. Foster Community

Dance is a physical form of artistic expression that encourages a creative inclusive community. We promote a non-judgmental atmosphere and cultivate a safe, supportive space in which to dance, express emotions and work through the physical and emotional pains involved in recovery and/or treatment for injury and illness.
